ESG Reporting in the UAE: A 2026 Compliance Playbook
For a long time, ESG reporting in the UAE was a choice. Companies published sustainability reports to signal something to investors, to regulators, to prospective employees. The decision was discretionary, and the cost of not doing it was largely reputational.
That is no longer the case for a significant portion of UAE businesses. A federal climate law that came into force in May 2025, combined with tighter stock exchange rules and a mandatory disclosure framework for larger free-zone companies, has created genuine legal obligations alongside the commercial pressures that already existed.
At New River ESG, we work with companies across the UAE that are trying to understand what is actually required of them. Not the broad policy direction, but the specific rules, deadlines, and consequences. This article sets out that picture as it stands in June 2026.
